Lucy Urach is our expert family lawyer, assisting clients with a range of complex legal matters. But you may not know that she is also involved with some local legal organisations.

Lucy sits on the Committee (as Secretary) of the Hunter Valley Family Law Practitioners Association (HVFLPA). Lucy is also on the Events Sub-Committee and the Conference Sub-Committee for HVFLPA.

HVFLPA was established over twenty years ago to give Newcastle family law practitioners a forum to share their views and experiences. HVFLPA supports local law students by way of two scholarships awarded annually.

She is also a Board Member of the Hunter Community Legal Centre. The Centre provides free legal advice and services to people who live in the Newcastle and greater Hunter region. It also engages in law reform activities designed to promote the needs of its clients.

At present, Lucy is also part of a working group in the process of planning a Family Violence Seminar aimed at educating and assisting family law practitioners how to better understand the nature of family violence and to prepare family law matters involving issues of family violence.

Lucy also sits on the Legal Aid Panel. Legal Aid provides legal services to disadvantaged people who would otherwise be unable to afford help. It is an essential part of our justice system, ensuring that all individuals have the ability to obtain legal assistance.

Well done, Lucy!
