As the Coronavirus (Covid-19) forces an increasing amount of Australians to stay away from their workplaces the question needs to be asked, what if I am injured whilst working from home? For instance, if I trip over the cat and hurt myself whilst walking to the home printer to pick up documents for work, am I covered? If my office chair at home causes me back pain whilst typing a report for work, can I get assistance?

Whilst each situation is different, employers have a non-delegable duty of care to ensure the health and safety of their employees whilst they are at work regardless of where they are working from. So long as an employee is injured whilst in the course of performing their employment duties, even if they are at home, then they may be eligible for compensation and assistance.
