Truck drivers are thirteen times more likely to die during work than the average Australian worker- that is, according to a recent Australian study.

A Monash University research team have revealed the alarming statistics after studying more than 120,000 Australian insurance claims made between 2004 and 2015.

Interestingly, the Study’s leader, Professor Alex Collie, also indicated that truck driving is currently the most common occupation for Australian males, and it’s still growing.

In fact, demand for truck drivers is expected to double between 2010 and 2030.

There are a number of ongoing health issues that may arise from the sedentary lifestyle of a truck driver so it’s important that an employee in the industry understands their legal rights and insurance.

Truck driver’s depending on the circumstances of an accident or injury could be able to make a CTP claim, workers compensation claim, or possibly both.
